My apologies for the lateness of this issue. I have been both interstate on a couple of occasions, and also sick which has resticted my time available to putting the magazine together.

In the last issue I asked in this column for people reading the magazine to contact me. I received 7 replies. I hope a few more than that are actually reading this issue...

Last month saw a couple of stories emerge about the possibility of a worm or virus surfacing in OS X. Nothing practical or real, just a rather hypothetical exploration of the mechanism. Since then Apple has moved to plug a couple more security holes, and I hope to cover this issue in more depth in the next magazine.

Although there have been some speed bump releases of new portables and the eMac, we're still waiting for the other boot to drop on Steve's promise of a 3GHz G5. Some commentators are suggesting that the manufacturers are having difficulty keeping up with Steve's promise. Lets hope he can deliver soon.

Microsoft have announced the release of Office 2004. However a significant missing component from the "Pro" version is the much promised Virtual PC V7. This will be the first version to run on a G5. However Microsoft are being coy about when they will actually release it. Perhaps the "little endian" problem is proving to have a bigger end than they thought....

Finally, the WWDC happens early in June and Steve is promising attendees a preview of OS X 10.4, code name "Tiger". Lets hope it really puts a "Tiger in our tank". Little in the way of promised features has leaked out to date, so it will be an occasion for a surprise.

I really hate this damned machine,

I wish that they would sell it.

It never does quite what I want

But only what I tell it!!
