Searchable Index

Here's what you need to do:

Create a new folder on your hard drive, I suggest calling it MACinations.
Inside this folder create (at least) a folder called I suggest 2003.
We also have searchable indexes for issues going back to 1998, so you may as well make folders called 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 here as well.

Alternatively if you want to save some time downloading over 80 Mb of files, you can purchase from the Club the whole previous 5 years on CD!

Download to the 2003 folder the 2003 issues of MACinations in pdf format.
These are available from the Table of Contents on the left or Latest Additions folder on the BBS.
Then download the MACinations_index_2003.sea file .
Expand the contents by double clicking it.
Put the resulting file (index.pdx) and folder (index) in the 2003 folder created earlier.
It should look like this:

Now you will be able to use the search function in Acrobat Reader 5 (OS 9) (Command Shift F) to very quickly find any word or phrase in any of the year 2003 issues of MACinations. Note Adobe reader 6 (OS X only) cannot read these index files (Adobe changed the way they work...), however Adobe Reader 6 does have a Search function which you can point to a folder full of pdfs and get a result, not as fast as the older technology, but better than nothing.
